T-90A - Evolution of Soviet Tank Design.

A highly detailed real-time 3D model of the Russian T-90A "Wladimir" (Objekt 188A) main battle tank has been released.

The T-90A, introduced in the early 2000s as a major upgrade to the T-72 lineage, represents a significant evolution in Russian armored vehicle design. Its presence on the front lines of the ongoing war in Ukraine has brought renewed attention to its capabilities and survivability under modern combat conditions.

The T-90A is distinguished by its welded turret, a departure from the cast turrets of earlier models. This welded design incorporates advanced laminate composite armor, significantly enhancing protection against kinetic and chemical energy threats. In addition, the T-90A is equipped with a modified Kontakt-5 explosive reactive armor (ERA) system, providing improved resistance to tandem-charge warheads and shaped charges. These upgrades reflect Russia’s ongoing efforts to adapt its armored forces to evolving battlefield threats.

Model T-90A - turret details

The newly developed high-fidelity model features around 283k polygons, capturing the complex geometry of the welded turret and hull with exceptional precision. The physically based rendering (PBR) texture sets (Udim workflow: Vehicle 5x4k 1x2k, Alpha/Transparency 2x1k, and the Tracks 1x512/TexOffset 1x2k) reproduce the tank’s surface materials, camouflage, and weathering effects in photorealistic detail. All functional elements—including the 125 mm smoothbore main gun, secondary armaments, hatches, tracks, and wheels—are fully rigged for accurate animation and simulation.

Designed for use in military training and simulation environments, this model enables a detailed study of the T-90A’s construction and operational features. Its high level of fidelity supports realistic scenario planning and technical analysis, which are increasingly vital as the T-90A continues to play a prominent role in the conflict in Ukraine.
