Russian project 1232.2 (Zubr class, NATO: Pomornik)

Updated: 1 day ago

The first Zubr class vehicles were built by Almaz Shipbuilding in St Petersburg in the 1980s and entered service in 1988. Two examples - probably not in operational condition - are located in Kaliningrad. Other user countries are Greece and China which still use these air cushion landing crafts (LCAC) today.

The Zubr class was built to support amphibious landing and evacuation operations. With a payload of up to 130 tons and a maximum speed of 80 knots, these LCACs can transport troops and up to 3 tanks, 8 IFVs, or 10 APCs over water, ice, snow, and land. Obstacles up to 2 m can also be crossed.

But let's take a look at cantaloupe's model. Let's start with an extensive search, divided into total, detailed views and construction data, simply everything you can find on the net.

In this case, there are enough drawings. Still, if there are only a few pictures, we like to use the highly recommended tool fSpy, with which the camera parameters can be estimated. Thus a visual comparison of the model with the real image is possible.

Our model is made in two states - one with the loading flap closed and the second with it open. Rigging is possible, too, but was not required in this case. The model consists of more than 76,322 polygons in each configuration. There are three 4K texture sets, in PBR metal and rough and NonPBR diffuse and specular levels with 50 px/m, respectively.

The environment was set up in Blender. Also, the final rendering was done in Blender.
